The first challenge is up at Scrap the Moments!
Your challenge is to create a layout using something that you find around your house on the layout. For example, a ticket stub, receipt, business card, anything like that! You can use a photo as well, as long as you have something else on your page!
For my LO, I used a flier and ticket stub from the museum event I scrapped.
I can't wait to see what you create with what you find around the house! Stop by the blog for more details on how you can win a fabulous kit from Catch the Moments Kits!

Self-realization thanks to Melody Ross
I have to say that ever since I found out about Melody Ross' Brave Girls Club, she has been my hero. The daily truths and inspiring messages always seem to say exactly what I need to hear. I am on a kick of sorts to try to figure myself out, to find the real me under all the pretending. I absolutely love Brave Girls Club and Scrapbooking From the Inside Out, which is a fabulous kit club and mb who's goal is to get you to think about you. Rachel, the owner, calls it scrap therapy, and while I haven't gotten to dive into the challenges there, I have written them down so that I can scrap the hidden pieces of me. I wonder if some of the reason I haven't started her challenges is because I am afraid of the real me. Afraid that I am exactly how I see myself maybe? Or that I I still haven't found myself and I am going to hit the big 3-0 this next year.
Reading Melody's latest blog post really brought tears to my eyes. She talks about how she sees herself when she looks in the mirror, how mean she is to her own image. And even though I see beauty when I see her photos, I know how she feels. I feel like the ugly, fat chick who looks plain and tired and stressed all the time. All I ever see is the fat and the dark circles under my eyes. And I have this mental block that I can't seem to get past. I HATE looking at myself in photos, in the mirror. When people tell me how cute I look or how good a photo looks, I smile and say thanks, but deep down don't see it, can't believe it.
I know that this isn't really scappy related, but at the same time maybe it really is. I feel like I hold back on my pages sometimes, like I don't want to expose more of myself than I have to. I know I fear rejection, I always have. And by not putting all of me into my work, I can shield myself from some criticism. My challenge to myself is to let go of that inhibition and see what direction it takes my work. I am sure that this is going to take some time and I will more than likely resort back to where I am now. Which is not bad. I don't think my current work is bad in any way, I just feel like I can make it more personal. And my other challege is to explore the Scrapbooking From the Inside Out challenges. To really think on the and at least get my feelings out.
Funny, I started this post as a kind of self-therapy session to myself and have ended it with some scrap-related challenges. For those who have read this all the way through, thanks for letting me ramble! And I promise that the next posts will be completely scrap related!!

Ali Edwards December Daily Album
Have you ever done Ali Edwards' December Daily Album? It was brought up over at A Cherry On Top and being curious I clicked on the link. If you have never heard of it, it is a mini album that she does to capture the holiday season-all the little things, the thoughts, the daily grind- as well as all of the major activities. It sounds really interesting and something I'm thinking about doing.
(For full details on her blog see here)
I am so not a mini album person normally. Don't get me worng, I absolutely LOVE when others create them, or I create them as gifts, but I've never done one to keep for me. I'm thinking that I am going to use one of the 8x8 Fancy Pants albums I picked up and do the December Daily in that size. Now, I've just got to figure out the paper I want to use and get started on getting it prepped. Wish me luck as I am usually not too successful when I start projects like this!! (Although, I did manage to keep up with Project 365 this year-at least in the picture taking. I still have to scrap a lot of those photos LOL)

On {SAS}sy Cloud 9!!!
OMGosh!!! I am so excited to get to share this fabulous piece of news!!!
I am a Guest Design Team member for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking!!
Here is the news, straight from Lauri:
I struggled with only picking 4 design team members…so in addition to the full time design team, I also picked 3 guest designers!
nls10271
Adrienne
Datatar
JJ
And guest desiging for us during this 6 month dt term:
Emarie803
Krystle
dbscraps
I decided to bring back both Dana and Nadine for another term. They both are extremely wonderful designers and also such a big part of the site – I felt like it just wouldn’t be the same without them for 6 months. I am excited to see how they progress in the next 6 months.
Adrienne has been very instrumental to the site since the moment she joined. She is a wonderful designer and is always willing to get to know you on a personal level. I have never worked with Adrienne but I look forward to working with her as she expands her scrapbooking skills.
And JJ. Last term, she was kind enough to jump in at the last minute and design. But although she joined us for a while, I felt she deserved to design for us for a complete term this time. JJ is one of the most creative people know – and not just scrapbooking wise, she is talented in whatever craft she does.
I was very impressed with all the applications but wanted to see a little more from the following designers. So please join me in welcoming Em, Krystle and Debbie to our team as guest designers over the next 6 months.
Congrats to everyone, I am looking forward to working with you in the upcoming months. And thank you again to EVERYONE that submitted applications. It warms my heart to see so many wonderful scrapbookers who have an interest in joining our team.
Congrats to Nadine, Adrienne, Dana, and JJ!! They are all such talented ladies and I love seeing all their work!! And congrats to my GDT counterparts Krystle and Debbie!!! I can't wait to see what you do during your time!
And a big THANK YOU to Lauri for wanting me to guest design for her!! I love Scrap Attack and have been grinning since I got the news!! I feel honored to have been chosen and look forward to working with all the DT members!

Reflections of a scrap nerd
Over at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking the following question was asked:
Do you ever feel silly sometimes being the only one with a camera if you are out with others who are not scrappers?
And I have to say that sometimes I do. Sometimes I care too much about what other people think of me. That I might be perceived as strange or a nuisance. And yet, it has not stopped me from taking shots of my food in restaraunts, or pulling the car over to get a cool shot. The scrapbooker comes out and I think of the perfect LO I can do with those shots, planning pages as soon as I take the photos.
I love my hobby, love being able to let my creativity run wild. Oh and getting to play with fancy office supplies (I've always loved office/school supplies. Getting a fun pen or highlighter always made me happy) I love to be able to look back at my pages and see the details, the time I put into it.
But deep down sometimes I wonder what those around me are thinking. They probably don't even notice what I'm doing and if they do, it's nothing illegal, nothing to be ashamed about. Yet I have sacrificed photo-ops before because of those around me, hearing snide comments or getting funny looks. And then I always regret not getting the photos. It doesn't help that I'm not around other scrapbookers (or even those who understand) very often. My family doesn't scrap and I have a couple friends who kinda scrap. They aren't into it like I am, so I don't think they even fully understand. But, it shouldn't matter who I am around. I do this for me and I should be the one who matters most.
This is definitely something I am working on, not caring so much and being oblivious to the comments and looks. I am working on living a life with no regrets and this seems to be an easy place to start!
So maybe I'm not such a scrap nerd after all...

You want a challenge??
If you want a challenge, go check out the October Scrapbook Play (10 #3) challenge at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. The challenge is to do a blind grab of your stash and create a LO with whatever you pull. Since most of my papers are in kits, I grabbed 3 bags and pulled 1-2 papers from each. I ended up with Love, Elsie cardstock (green arrows) which I sanded, Bella Blvd (the card sheet from camped out) which I cut a bunch of the elements out, Crate Paper (black background), October Afternoon, and the sticker element sheet from BG Granola
Then it was time to pick embellishments. I grabbed MM rub-on alphas, BG buttons, Kaiser Craft woven badges, MM Spook Alley velvet frames, green ribbon, and pink ribbon
Put it all together, and I created the following:
Not too bad considering what I had to work with! Let me tell you, this was a challenge to pull off, but I had a blast doing it!

Some LOs I can now share
Well, one DT announcement has been made. I kinda figured my style was not for them, but I tried anyway and had fun creating with their papers. And now I can share part of what I worked on last month. Looking at what I created, I think that I have a relatively "simple" style. I guess nothing that makes people go "WOW" but I am happy with what I create and that is all that matters. I especially like the last LO and it's part of a "Brave Girls" album that I am putting together with the daily truths and quotes that Melody Ross shares. Seriously, I absolutely adore her and love all the inspiration and wonderful messages that she shares to all the brave girls out there. Every woman should check her out!!! http://www.bravegirlsclub.com/
My niece Kayla at Christmas last year loved to hold Mindy. Mindy doesn't like to be held much and decided to lick Kayla so she'd let her go. Too bad Kayla loved Mindy's "kisses" LOL
And for my Brave Girls album... I really do like how this one turned out for some reason. Not the photo of me so much, but the overall design.

Me and my hockey girl Andrea at the Av's preseason scrimmage! This girl loves the sport as much as I do :)

Finally, LOs I can share!
I've been working on Design Team applications for awhile now. 2 down and 1 more to go. Which means that while I've been scrapping my little heart out, I've not been able to share anything I've done. Taking a break and scrapping for myself has felt so good!
This first LO is for a challenge at A Cherry On Top. I belong to the Hockey forum there and since the season is just about to start, that means it is time for our annual hockey pool on the mb. Everyone who plays picks 2 teams and hopes to have the most points at the end of the season! I ALWAYS go with the San Jose Sharks, but my 2nd team varies. This year I picked the Penguins. My friend Leslie, who runs the pool, decided that this year she's going to throw out some challenges along the way. #1 was to pick a team's colors and scrap a LO using those colors. Now, since I'm a Sharks girl all the way, I chose their colors:
The 2nd LO is for a challenge over at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking. September's Scrapbook Play challenge was to create a LO using NO photos. For me this was a huge challenge until I went to my friend's band's CD release party/show. It was near impossible to get good photos, but I wanted to scrap the event. So, I grabbed a flyer, my ticket stub, and the cove of the new album and put together this LO. Add some Maya Road cb tree branches and some new Jillibean Soup corrugated stars and I think it turned out really well!

Time Flies!!
I can't believe that Halloween is just around the corner! I have been so busy this summer that I really don't know where the time went! Between working a lot and being apart of the Leadership program at work, I have not had a whole lot of creative time. And what I have been doing, most I can't share yet as it is for DT calls, and a scraplift challenge over at A Cherry On Top. We are playing "telephone" only with LOs. Since I was one of the first to go, I can't wait to see what the whole chain of scraplifts ends up looking like!
I did get to go to CKC San Marcos last weekend and had a blast with my Texas Girls! We took a bunch of classes and had so much fun! I even won door prizes in a couple of the classes, and in the Vendor Faire (which I did some damage at LOL!) I wish the trip could have been longer as I don't get to see them very often, but I am grateful for the time I did get. So many laughs!!!
As soon as I am able, I will post the LOs I've been doing for the calls. One has closed (the team should be announced tomorrow), one closes this weekend, and another next weekend! Whether I make it or not, I am proud of myself for even taking the chance to apply.
In non-scrapping related news...only 14 days til the NHL season starts! :)

LO woes
Have you ever scrapped a LO and then turned around and thought "how hideous?" I just did that on Thursday and am now trying to figure out how to fix it. Since I matted the photos, I am going to take that piece off and start all over. And since I did this, it seems like my mojo ran and hid again *Sigh* Off to find it and hopefully rectify the LO...

Ah to scrap again!
It seems like the moments I want to scrap are the ones that I am at work. I think of 10 LOs that I want to work on, get the perfect ideas for challenges, and then *POOF* the moment I get home from work, I am way too tired to even think about scrapping. Working a lot of OT this past week did not help either. But, it's Saturday and I have managed 1 LO between sleeping in this morning and getting ready to go out to dinner with my friend Andrea tonight!
I have been having a lot of fun going through some of the pictures from childhood, and knew that I had to use this one when my monthly kit from Paper Posies arrived yersterday!

Not meant to be
Well it was not meant for me to be on a DT. At least right now. Never got a call today about the Lily Bee DT. So, I'll just keep on doing my own thing. Maybe take a look at applying at other spots later this year. See if I can find a DT who likes my scrapping style...
And back to my regularly scheduled life I go

Dog sitting and scrapping
Having this week off of work, I figured that my mojo would come home and I could crank out some pages. Then my mom wanted us to dog-sit Max and Mindy while they took a short trip to TX. No problem for me, I just brought masses of scrap stuff with me. Mojo wasn't cooperating a whole lot, but I did manage a couple LOs.
This one is for the March Sketch challenge over at scrapattackscrapbooking.com. I had this in mind for an acherryontop.com challenge from last month, but I ran out of time. No worries, it worked perfectly with the sketch challenge:
And then, I did this one of my grandparents. I was on a role using Lily Bee papers from doing my DT call LOs and thought that the Vintage Poppy line worked well with this photo
Speaking of DT call...
I applied for the Lily Bee design team this week! I made it a scrappy resolution of sorts to start putting myself out there more. I figured what better place to start than with the DT of one of my new favorite manufacturers! These are the LOs that I submitted to them in my application, both using the fabulous Audrey line:
I am hoping that I hear from them next Monday, and I can't deny that I will be just a little devestated if I don't. But, at least I can say that I tried. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get a call though, just in case ;)

Away I go
On this blogging journey. I have never been good at keeping up with a journal or my past blog, so we shall see how long this lasts LOL
I am glad that I have this next week off of work so that I can work on some LOs for SSU over at scrapattackscrapbooking.com. I have 2 of the 6 classes done so far and need to get the others finished before the scrap around the world tour starts up on March 5th. This sounds interesting, and I can't wait for it to start!
I also just put the finishing touches on a couple LOs that I have been working on over the weekend. As soon as it is light enough, I will get photos and share!
