It's that time again for a new sketch over at Twisted Sketches!!
This week, the twist is buttons. Once again, I chose to do a lacrosse LO (I only have about a million to do with hitting just about every home game for both the Mammoth and the Outlaws for the past few seasons...and then not scrapping ANY on the games...) This LO isn't about any specific game however, it has to do with a title that was bestowed on the Pepsi Center a few years back. A sports writer did an article on the best city for lacrosse. They looked at all the cities that had a NLL (indoor) team and rated them on a number of factors. Surprisingly (to the writer at least) Denver came out number one. In fact, the Mammoth fans here in Denver create a huge part of the lacrosse atmosphere and the Pepsi Center was labeled "The Loudest House in the NLL". Well, Mammoth fans have worn that title proudly ever since, making the atmosphere at Mammoth games extremely loud and fun (the team is announced with motorcycles, and classic cars in the past, reving their engines on the field and fire towers shooting off fireworks, and then during the game cowbells, horns, and cheering are the norm) I have been apart of the madness for 6 years now and it has been something I have wanted to document since we got that title :) I am thinking I am going to do a second page with more of the little details (said cowbells, horns, and motorcycles) with detailed journaling. But at least I got this started:
I have saved the parking tickets from every game (it seems like) and decided this would be the perfect LO to use a few of them on!
Thanks for checking out my LO and come on over to play along with this sketch at Twisted Sketches!

Sketch #149
Sorry for the long delay between posts. My home computer is really in need of replacing! It doesn't always want to work when I need it to! And now I see Blogger is not playing nice with the browser we have at work (that I have no power to change...)
So let's hope this post shows up at least sort of normal!!
I have have had little time to scrap as of late. Trying to learn a new position that I have been detailed to with no training has left me totally exhausted! But I did manage to get this weeks sketch done over at Twisted Sketches! The twist was distress, which I decided would look good on a sports LO!
I have to say that I did have fun tearing and inking the cardstock edges and sanding the red piece of Core-dinations cardstock (I do love that stuff and really need to remember to use it more!) I also used my new favorite product, Twinkling H2Os, on the chipboard heart and took sandpaper lightly to it after it dried. To finish it off, I inked up the flowers, added a couple lacrosse elelments, and a journaling spot (which is a Becky Higgins Project Life journaling card that is lined both directions for maximum versatility).
Come check out all the wonderful LOs that the DT came up with and play along!!

Check out this weeks sketch over at Twisted Sketches! I had a lot of fun with this sketch and using the twist, which is "wish".
I have been wanting to scrap this photo since I got the photos from my sisters wedding. I even found the Bo Bunny paper in my stash and some misc ribbon and had it all ready to scrap. And then BAM...my mojo ran away and the supplies just sat there. When I got this challenge, I knew, with a little title work, this photo and these papers would be perfect! I wanted to add some texture, so I grabbed some mesh to put behind the photo. The original mesh was cream colored and blended in with the white background paper so I used a green ink pad and colored it to stand out. For the embellishments, I really didn't have anything that stood out, so I made my own. I cut out a few of the flowers from the patterned paper and added green pearls and pop dots. I grabbed some plain chipboard and painted the flower and heart bright colors to pop on the LO.
For the chipboard shape on the bottom, I got a little more involved. I pulled out the Melody Ross Chip Art debossing set that I won at a crop last year (and have never played with) and tried my hand at debossing the chipboard. I used stamps from 3 different sets (flowers, butterflies, and iron works) I then painted the chipboard in the same colors as the flower and heart and added green pearls to finish the chipboard

It's time for a new challenge over at Twisted Sketches
The new sketch is up over at Twisted Sketches! The twist this week is fabric. Here is what I came up with:
For the twist, I used a scrap of fun blue and green fabdric below the photos and then made both flowers out of some clearance fabric I picked up a while back at Hobby Lobby:
Stop on by the Twisted Sketches site and play along!

A few LOs
I was on a roll this past weekend and managed to get a few LOs done for the January challenges over at A Cherry On Top. This one is for the color challenge-use blues and purples on a winter LO. I came across this line of Bo Bunny (from last year I think) and it was perfect!
This one isn't for one of the monthly challenges, but for a challenge in the Hockey Forum. It was a recipe challenge and based on what I picked, I had to use- black cardstock, chipboard, flower, metal embellishment, distressing (it's kind of hard to see, but I took sandpaper and ran it over the pp), journaling, and a horizontal photo
And this one for the sketch challenge (I really do love sketches!)
Speaking of sketches, the new sketch will be up over at Twisted Sketches tomorrow, so be sure to stop by their blog and check it out!

A new sketch is up over at Twisted Sketches!
After a brief hiatus over the holidays, it's time again for a new sketch and a new twist over at Twisted Sketches. I had a lot of fun with this one and knew just what I wanted to do with it. The twist for this week is "new" so what better theme than New Years Eve?
With the exception of the sequin trim, I had everything else already in my stash! The clock I stamped using some Heidi Swapp clock stamps since I didn't have a white or clear clock to use.
Come check out what the rest of the DT did and play along!

Finally scrapping in 2012!
Ok so after the marathon scrap sessions I had in Dec to finish off 2 altered trays (the 2nd one I still need to post) and 2 albums that were each around 70 pages, I swore off scrapping! Never wanted to see my paper trimmer or ATG gun again! Then I decided that maybe I would just reorganize and purge my supplies since my mojo ran away with no thought of ever coming back. Well, after going through a couple bags and finding things that I forgot I had bought (don't you hate it when that happens? and I think it means I have way too many supplies again...), I got a small itch to use a Simple Stories line I had found. But, even finding the stuff, I still did nothing...until today! I logged in to A Cherry On Top and a few of the girls had a time challenge going. Basically, you had 1 hour (plus 10 min to download) from the time you said you'd start, to create a LO. I decided this was exactly what I needed to get going again, and away I went. I managed 3 LOs this afternoon and I am happy to say that it felt good to be scrapping again!
Using the Simple Stories Destinations line as well as some misc embellishments from my stash I did the following LOs from my trip this past June to see my friend Jenn:
On this LO, I used some Cosmo Cricket and Basic Grey. I made the border by layering 2 pieces of 7Gypsies chipboard and adding some bling.
I'm happy to be scrapping again, especially since these are LOs that I've wanted to get done for awhile now!
